Since its inception, the Airline Pilots Security Alliance has worked diligently to provide professional, unbiased, honest comment on aviation security issues, from the perspective of flight crew, to local, national and international media organizations, congressional committees and policymakers. APSA spokespersons have been interviewed by all of the major television and radio networks and virtually every leading newspaper and magazine in the country, and many international media, on important and far-reaching issues affecting the security of air travelers. We are proud of our reputation as a straight-talking, responsive, and trusted organization of professionals.
As journalists, we understand the responsibility you bear to learn the truth about aviation security issues and to accurately represent it to your audience – to get beyond hollow government assurances and doubletalk and learn where our weaknesses lie and what we can do about it. We also understand you are on a tight timeline and value responsiveness and competence in people who represent an issue. APSA spokespersons are usually immediately available and on point for compelling interviews and public statements.
The truth is, our government has spent $12 billion developing a multilayered aviation security system wherein none of the layers work. Government officials have misrepresented our country’s level of preparedness to the public and to Congress, making it almost impossible to learn how woefully unprepared we are for new 9/11’s.
Airline security is a sieve and we are completely unprepared for the next Al Qaeda attack in almost every area of airline security. Every day, thousands of professional pilots see the myriad holes in the system, screaming to be heard on an issue that will have the most devastating repercussions for our country if the story isn’t told and changes not made.
We look forward to providing you with cogent comment, supporting documents and the multimedia materials you need to keep the public informed.
